The Chief of Party KRSU, participated in a panel discussion organized by Food for the Hungry in Uganda. The COP talked about emerging risks and opportunities in Karamoja and particularly emphasized on conflict/insecurity, climate hazards, post covid -19 challenges and overall livelihoods challenges. He further added the continuous shock in the region calls for a strong and functioning disaster management systems and structures with early warning and early response mechanisms in place. Flexible funding mechanisms such as crisis modifier and standard tools such as Livestock Emergency Guidelines and Standards (LEGS) could be useful for Karamoja. These are tools that have been in use in the horn of Africa including Kenya and Ethiopia.
