Cross-country learning event to Isiolo County, Kenya for District Planners from Karamoja
on Thursday, 11 May 2017.
Following a rapid assessment of District Planning Units (DPUs) in Karamoja, the KRSU organized a cross-country learning event for district planners to Isiolo County in Northern Kenya. The aim was to expose the District Planners to a different form of decentralization, integrated disaster risk management and participatory planning and budgeting with communities. The visit took place in March 2017 and included District Planners, an Assistant Chief Administrative Officer, and three officials from the Office of the Prime Minister (OPM).
During the visit, the District Planners identified lack of data for planning as a major challenge in Karamoja, and they plan to engage with the data management and repository center in the OPM in order to access data and information necessary for planning. The KRSU plans to engage with OPM to support the center to better link with the districts.
